Calling all warbirds, from rag wing to heavy metal. Camden is the place to be this summer! Welcome to our website. Last year was a great first year for our inaugural SodBuster's event and we are looking forward to good times again this summer. Ask anyone that has been to our events and they will all tell you what a great field this is for warbirds. The grass is lush, trees are a mile away and there is plenty of warm “southern hospitality”. Our gracious host, Modern Turf Sod Farm, is once again welcoming us back for two days of fun on their manicured Bermuda sod runways. As a matter of fact we welcome you from noon on Thursday until dark on Sunday for anyone that wants to come early and stay late. At our first event last June several pilots remarked on the comfort factor they felt while flying in such open spaces with limitless runway in every direction. The uniqueness of that feeling had most pilots flying more in two days than they can ever remember. So if you want to fly a bunch, or just hang out with some great scale modelers and enjoy the show, then come on out and see us. We will put on a low country boil Friday night and grill up a delicious chicken lunch on Saturday. We will sell meal tickets when you register to help us know how much food to plan for. Stan is even talking about having a cookout Saturday night too if enough pilots indicate they will be sticking around to eat with us. We are working on another “donation” of lights again like we had last fall. So bring your electric foamies and have some fun after dark on the lit runway. Unlike the fall we are not planning any skydivers or full scale aircraft this summer. We will have a frequency board for those on 72mhz, but no radio impound, be prepared to police yourself and don’t forget to get the pin. Please help us keep the field as beautiful at the end of the event as it is in the beginning by keeping to foot traffic on the sod, parking in designated areas, and catching your overflow fuel from spilling on the sod. Over 55lb models are welcome as long as you have the proper AMA certification. We ask that you please remember to fly these beautiful monster models further out, as required by the AMA, to keep everyone a safe distance away. We are a sanctioned AMA event this year so please help us keep everyone safe by adhering to all of the AMA safety codes. Camping out with tents or trailers is encourage, although we do not have any hookups. We will be asking RV's to park in the first ring of grass adjacent to the road this year in an effort to keep heavy tire tracks to a minimum. You guys will be directly behind the flight line, about 200 feet from the edge of the runway. If you want to drop your model trailer and need assistance moving it up closer to the flight line, then just let us know and we will make it happen. .We had a number of pets last year and love them; however, the owner has asked us to let everyone know NO PETS this year. We expect everyone to be safe and have a great time. See you there, Stan & Forest
